Independent Guides
We provide independent recommendations and listings, covering
the whole field of ecommerce.
Ecommerce Digest Independence
You'll notice we don't indulge in product placement (except some
Google Ads from time to time: which don't appear in our ebook).
We guard our independence, placing before our viewer the widest
selection of goods and services that could of be interest to them.
Certainly it's not an easy business model, given the expectations
of many Internet users, and we also surprise companies that offer
attractive rates for us to concentrate on their products. But
we believe that Ecommerce Digest fulfills an important need, and
we're pleased that subscribers agree.
But why should subscribers search on screen for what is more
conveniently available in book form, where information can be
fuller and more easily set out? Because the information is not
fuller, but is unavoidably restricted and too often out of date.
We have nothing against traditional books, and in fact maintain
our own library. But books are aimed at general readers, whom
they can only take so far, leaving them with a short list of sites
for further reference sites which the lead times of traditional
publishing ensure will not now be the best going, or possibly
even in existence. Unfortunately, it also has to be said, the
listings are not always very extensive or useful. Against the
few score the average book provides, we give over 3,200, all scrupulously
checked for relevance and kept up to date.
So what about the other sites and e-books advising on ecommerce
aren't they more contemporary? They could and should be,
but readers who download their e-books will generally find them
packed with affiliate programs and out-of-date listings. They
will also realize that many of these guides are really promoting
schemes that will benefit their originator far more than business
partners. Some schemes worked at the time, but no more. Some never
worked. Affiliate schemes in particular now have thousands or
tens of thousands of agents. Is that the competition you want?
And if you had a sure-fire plan of making money, would you dilute
profits by sharing it with others for a paltry $50 subscription?
The only sensible way of proceeding is to maintain a watching
brief on ecommerce, and incorporate fresh material into updated
e-books at regular intervals. That is indeed what Ecommerce Digest
does, bringing its readers the advantages of continuous research
with the convenience of ebook reading.
